Ketchup...ha!!! A new " Funny Valentine "
Matty

" Matty " is available for adoption , made of air dry clay over a muslin face and stem ,I've inserted green glass eyes, her nose and stem are crackled,she is acrylic painted and blushed with mica powder. Her muslin body is lightly aged, one hand holds a crackled winged heart on a black coated wire, the other a vellum letter with a silk ribbon " sealed " with a tiny card stock heart. Her bodice is detailed with one row of small red hearts across her sweetheart neckline from which green vines cascade down her body. A vintage crepe paper collar festoons her neck and painted red shiny shoes adorn her feet, she is secured on top of a distressed "v" lettered wooden block with terms of endearments on parchment paper on opposite sides. All sealed with matte spray varnish, she will come to you signed and dated .Approx.7-1/4 " tall.

A few different websites have "gone dark" today in in order to highlight the pending Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA, in the House) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA, in the Senate). Wikipedia, Google, Reddit, Wired, and others all have their own statements or mini-protests with information on more and ways to contact your representatives on the issue.

The bills would empower the attorney general to create a blacklist of sites to be blocked by Internet service providers, search engines, payment providers and advertising networks, all without a court hearing or a trial. The House version goes further, allowing private companies to sue service providers for even briefly and unknowingly hosting content that infringes on copyright — a sharp change from current law, which protects the service providers from civil liability if they remove the problematic content immediately upon notification. The intention is not the same as China’s Great Firewall, a nationwide system of Web censorship, but the practical effect could be similar.
The House bill would also emulate China’s system of corporate “self-discipline,” making companies liable for users’ actions. The burden would be on the Web site operator to prove that the site was not being used for copyright infringement. The effect on user-generated sites like YouTube would be chilling.

Oh how they " Sparkle."..

Made of air dry clay over Apoxie Sculpt on a heavy resin base, tape covered wires for hat tails,
a small aluminum heart hangs from the full crepe paper collars, painted in washes with acrylics then sealed with a matte spray varnish. Resin base iced generously with chocolate colored glitter, signed and dated, hanger attached to back ready for displaying.

What would Valentine3s be without a Wumbwie...

Made of air dry clay over a foam core base with wire, crepe paper collars, cuffs and ever present Mr.Smiley at their caps, all acrylic painted with mica powder blushing .Both have hand painted glass eyes , each sealed with matte varnish spray.
A crackle finish was applied to all hearts on "a".
The wings were blush ever so lightly on "b".

Shimmers -Wallees

Some befores of the Wallees process, these are my Halloween " Glimmers" the same techniques was used
for these "Shimmers"
on the clean resin snowflake I add Apoxie Sculpt mix to the center and let dry overnight, then I add a foam base
which I have shaped into a " ball " and apply my clay over it.
If I want a hat or detail, I make a small form out of either foam or wire and tape, then attach it to the "ball" and cover it with clay then let dry overnight.

All are sealed with a matte spray varnish.

Finishing up...

The last of my Wumbwies for a while ,I will be retiring my Wumbwies till further notice.
But these Halloween Skewee Skewingtuns and a Kitty Skewingtun are done .I got 2 more I'm working on plus a Squirmy Wormy ,anywho I'll post the 2 Christmas Shimmers along with the others in a bit .

Truly Thankful...

I love to put a sweet Mary Engelbreit picture on my blog, specific to the holidays that come around, simply because I adore how she captures them with such child-like innocence. While browsing the net trying to find one that was just right, I came upon a wonderful and very touching video about this remarkable woman and her equally remarkable family, I think it captures what being thankful is all about, I'm sure you all will recognize them...

Well maybe I wasn't ...

so lucky after all...I had a medical issue to take care of these last few weeks due to a shattered kneecap !!!ugh!!! still makes me shudder thinking about it , I slipped on some water in my own kitchen.I'm on the mend and mostly don't need my pain pills anymore,!!!YAY!!!
They made the pain go away but left me so sleepy and unable to really concentrate on doing my art, believe me I tried...

But on a lighter note I won a fantastic candle from my sweet friend April Harres Folky Art Candles it is the Pomegranate scented one, simply gorgeous!!!And my dear friend Edna of Plum Thicket Folk Art sent me a box of wonderful china paints ,just because???!!! She is such a dear sweet lady and both these ladies are talented to boot, so please go visit and tell em' I said Hi!!!
Needless to say no update today...Thank you April and Edna and all my friends for the emails.

Am I lucky or what....

The other day my dh said " can you use a kiln" just like that ,"HUH? What size is it" I said , not realizing that this is a big deal, as we are not able to spend any kinda dough now for anything, let alone a kiln!!!???
Anywho I really wasn't sure if he was asking if I wanted him to buy one for me ? He is always getting good deals on things...But he says our church was trying to get rid of one and would I like it? HELL yeah!!!!If it's free it's for me...hahahaha!!!I'm imagining porcelain BJD's and such, oh the things I could do !!!!Gonna have to read up on how to use one, anyone know where I could get some good info, anything that is visual, cause I do better that way, dyslexia ya know...at least that's what I tell myself anyway, more later, SEE YA!!!

Deep in the heart...

of Texas , the stars are not so bright...The fires in Texas are burning figuratively as well as literally, billowing black smoke obscuring and engulfing everything in sight...







Mercifully Magonlia County which is about 34 miles from my home, we could see an orange haze in the distance ,it seems to have about 80% of the fire contained now but Bastrope only 30%....Please keep them in your prayers.
