Deep in the heart...

of Texas , the stars are not so bright...The fires in Texas are burning figuratively as well as literally, billowing black smoke obscuring and engulfing everything in sight...

Mercifully Magonlia County which is about 34 miles from my home, we could see an orange haze in the distance ,it seems to have about 80% of the fire contained now but Bastrope only 30%....Please keep them in your prayers.

Blessings,
Flora

Terrible tragedy, Flora. I'll be in the Austin area at the end of this month and my friend told me I won't recognize it...it's all brown where the green used to be. Here in El Paso, we're used to "brown." Earlier in the summer, we had the smoke from the AZ and NM fires....horrible!

I have a friend who who had to evacuate...she lives in the Bastrop area. Thankfully, her house and the surrounding property was spared, but she said just down the road, it was completely charred.

Hey Georgina ,terrible isn't it, your friend is one of the lucky ones. The thing is that Perry has asked for federal disaster aide for almost a year and it has been denied. Texas pays a large portion of it's share of federal money and this should never have been allowed to continue
this administration has played politics with peoples lives, from the oil spill to this, not all Texans are Republicans, even so I'm still proud that I'm Texan and Republican but most importantly Christian.

That is just so terrible. We have some fires near by too, and most of them are started by careless smokers and dry weather :o(

Hello Sweet Flora! I'm sorry I haven't been visiting here, it's a bit crazy on my end, but obviously, I have nothing to complain about in my life, seeing this!

I wish this fire to mercifully end, and sending prayers out! :)

Flora!!!I didn't realize you were in Tx! We are practically neighbors!!! I live in Conroe, almost bought in Magnolia! We had a crazy fire Monday just around the corner from us! They fought it until midnight. They called in the Houston FD to help as well! We have horses and were getting nervous. I sure hope we get some relief from all this heat soon. We need all the rain that is hitting Pa! (((HUGZ))) Shawnette :)

Hi, Flora
Me again.
I see now that it's videos of the fires from You tube.
Are the fires close to you or can you see the smoke. Texas is so huge but so is the area encompassed by the fires.
Hope all is well with you and your extended family too.
heartfelt prayers are with you,
Tersa

Hello again Tersa!!!Yes they are from you tube, but made by people who live in the area and yes one of the fires is about 30 minutes away from where I live, so yes I was able to see the smoke and hazy orange color in the sky the day it happened.Bastrope is closer to Austin that one is bigger and causing much damage .Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the prayers.
Blessings,Flora

Hello my dear Bonnie!!!Not much else we can do now except pray and leave it in the lords hands .I saw some even more disturbing pictures from another friends facebook , where the cattle are all dehydrated, emaciated and dying, with the earth dry and barren of waters, all cracked and scorched.
