Blue Moon

Made of a mix of Premier and LaDoll stone clay,
made over a Styrofoam base and wooden dowel for his nose.
I gave him glass blue eyes with an enameled gold crown,that
sits jauntily on his head.
Painted in acrylic washes of blue ,then generously frosted with
glitter,the full ruffled crepe paper collar adorning his neck
is also frosted with light blue tinted glitter. He hangs from
my signature whimsical hook, signed & dated, approx. 4" from
top of his hook to bottom of his collar.

Why ...

Why didn't anyone tell me how hard it would be to send my last child away to college ?

Although it's not like anything could have prepared us for this , he graduated from high school with high honors , Magna Cum Laude which led to him receiving a scholarship to University of Texas Austin and we are extremely proud of him but it was also extremely difficult for us to leave him there. No he isn't a mama's boy but he is his dad's right arm ,his " Bud " ,which was his paternal grandpa's nickname. The idea that " he won't be present to say goodnight mom , I love you " accompanied with his familiar big bear hugs , well
it just feels like I've lost something precious and can't find it and I don't like that feeling at all , not one bit. !!!!
My oldest dd thinks sending her only child off to her first day of Kindergarten was hard , she's not gonna know what to do when it's time for this ... life has to happen doesn't it .

We said our goodbyes and watched as he left us

Goodbye Momma...

It is through sadness ,tears and pain to know that I can never see your dear face again. Our days together were a precious few ,so how can I now say goodbye to you ? I need to hear you call my name and feel your presence and your warm embrace...just once more... but that just once more would never be enough and it hurts me to the core that I have to say ... Goodbye Momma , may you rest in peace. Love You Always, Flora.... Thank you for your prayers, my mother was able to be with us for a little longer because of them... Her final Rosary was said Saturday @ 7pm with friends and family ..... Blessings,Flora
