A little peek

she seems to be coming along nicely, but the eyes need to be a little more feminine maybe when she gets her clothes on she will transform? Anyway I thought I'd give y'all a little peek.

Pretty in Pink

...my first granddaughter will be making her entrance on June 17th around 1:30pm. We all anxiously await the arrival of her highness "Kinsley Alden Burkhardt" but she is in no hurry to come out so a c-section it is!!! My daughter Chencha and son-in-law Brian have waited almost eight long years for her, so just a little bit more and we will finally be meeting my little grandie! In the mean time " Kinsley " is taking her sweet little time while we imagine what she will look like all Pretty in Pink!

new idea

Here she is!!!!...I told ya, the design is better suited for a male doll but I'm gonna do her up anyway! She has a certain "in your face quality!" I also just finished cutting her out, as you can see. I had a heck of a time getting the mirror image down and had the same problem with Sam, but it's all the little quirks/mistakes that make the dolls have " character" dontcha think? I better get moving while she's still a new idea or I'll get discouraged and or overwhelmed with her!
Blessings,

Goodies!

Look at what I found at Joann's Fabrics yesterday afternoon, I must have gotten there just in time for one of their sales because everything at the scrapbooking area was on sale, most of it was priced at 97 cents, I was going crazy, had my basket filled with goodies then common sense prevailed and I put everything back, well almost, I had to keep these needfuls! The Fiskars edgers are normally 14.99 and I got it for $3.97!!!, two of the circle die cut papers and one of the square, there are 600 pieces in each, normally 4.99 per, snagged them for 97 cents each!....Now what to do with them....hmmm? Well I'm sure I can come up with something to use these " goodies " on!

Home at last!

I recieved a lovely note yesterday about my Sam, he made it safe and sound to his destination and seems to be getting a bit of attention from his new owners. I hope he doesn't get a big head from all the attention ..like it wasn't big enough already?
But suffice is to say that he is with a wonderful family who appreciates him, big head and all, Thank you Dana and Martin.
I just finished sketching a new doll design a few minutes ago, along the lines of Sam but female, somehow the design is better suited for a male? I'll have to get my son to scan the image and post it tomorrow.
I wonder if it will get easier selling my dolls and sending them off, it always feels like I'm missing something once they're gone? I know I know hahaha!! I'm a "little " flakey ...bye bye Sam, good to know that you're home at last!

Blessings,Flora

100th post drawing

Hello, can y'all believe it, I will be blogging my 100th post in just a few more days!!!!Truly unbelieveable huh?..hehehe... I've been busy making some needful trinkets for a couple of days, I hope y'all like them.
My sweet and talented friend Annette of "Huckleberry Arts" has made a delightfully gorgeous banner just for it! She is the one that did my blog banner too,
which is also fabulous!, but if you need a banner, she's the one to go to!
So here's what I'm gonna do, I have three groupings of items and the first two names I draw will have a choice, accordingly,
of which grouping they would like. So if all goes well it should be fun, so here are the gifts, oh and if you click on the pic's you can see it all glitter so much better!!!The first grouping has my logo beautifully embellished on a wand, full of glittered crepe paper ruffles, ribbons with tails and bells!
Two goody filled cellophane bags, the larger has my handmade and wrapped fake "candy" all in halloween colors with tiny plastic ghosts, bats and spiders, tied up with coordinating ribbons and a sweet little tag.
The smaller one has more tiny plastic characters plus, candy corn, cats and a golden moon disc with a witch silhouette, tied up with a tiny "silly" tag and ribbons.
3 handmade tags, on 2 I've used copied vintage halloween sheet music then stamped both with Halloween themes and ribbons, the third is also from a vintage print of a lovely lady. All 3 have a bit of glitter on the designs and made from cardstock and scrapbooking papers trimmed with more Halloween ribbon.
Finally two vinatge mini pumpkins, which I have applied sparkly glitter to, the are finished off with one single fabric leaf.
Next we have tussie #1, which is made of a plaid printed paper over a heavier material, trimmed with Halloween paper fringe at the top and bottom then embellished with all sorts of goodies, some handmade like the glittered tags with initial and some not ,like the ribbons, metal pumpkin charms and bell hanging from it at the bottom. 2 decorative hangers were used on either side of the tussie for it's ribbon handle.
1 glittered pumpkin, 2 of the embellished handmade tags but different designs and sizes, and 1 small cellophane bag of the "wrapped candy" with tiny plastic characters, all tied up with coordinating ribbons and sweet little glittered hangtags.
Last but not least is the second tussie, which has exactly the same goodies as the first. The only small differences is in the pattern and colors of the papers I chose to make it from, this one is made in a dotted design and the color of the trick or treat sign on the face tag is purple. All Halloweenie and ready to put up, but you have to sign up for it!
Good luck all!

Parting is such sweet sorrow?

Okay that's it for my knowledge of shakespeare ( not really ) but it seemed appropriate since I have to say goodbye to both my Uncle Sam and my Changeling. Thank you so very much Tina and Dana!!!!!! I know they are headed to wonderful new homes, both women seemed so genuinely thrilled to be able to own my creations. Now off to try and get another one up. BTW have y'all been over to The Humble Arts yet? There are still some wonderful lovelies there, but I don't know how long they will last......so whatcha

Proud American

" Uncle Sam I Am "
Uncle Sam I am, so fortunate to be,
Born in a land so beautiful and free.
Uncle Sam I am, so fortunate to be,
Living in a country blessed with
sweet liberty.
Uncle Sam I am, so fortunate and proud,
That I can call myself an.. AMERICAN!
by Flora Thompson

Peanut had some pencil head dolls she had made on her blog and I got the idea to do my guy this way from her, with a "Bone*Head*Studios" touch...Thanks Peanut.!
Uncle Sam has finally been sent to "The Humble Arts" where I hope he will find a loving home. I've seen some of the fabulous creations and I think y'all need to mark the date on a calender, so y'all won't miss it, cause when it's gone it's...gone! Just click the link Okay?

Pooka Challenge

" The Changeling"
Betwixt the twilight and the dawn,
What a strange creature I've stumbled upon.
Caught in a world neither here nor there
And I cannot help but stop to stare!
Near two paths that intertwined,
Is the changeling that I did find.
Gleefully grinning from ear to ear,
That his transition is so near!
From a "Changeling" into a raven,
When the skies will be his haven.
So I quietly turn and walk away,
Never to forget what I spied this day.
by Flora Thompson

My challenge for HA31, was to make an ornament of a pooka also known as a changeling, shapeshifter or goblin, whose choice, when transforming is usually a black being. Another group challenge, the fabulous AHQU, was "Crows". Since
I chose to make mine turning into a raven, it worked for both.
He has an 8-1/2" circumference and approximately 3-1/2" tall, made from paperclay over an unopened smooth ornamental gourd. He is not a hanging ornament, but a shelf sitter. He also has the unintentional look of "Shrek"..lol!
Here are some more pic's of him in progress.

A bit scarey looking prior to the eye paint, he may be small but he has a great big personality.

So very blessed

What a busy week! My dd Mandy and Me gave my dd Chencha, a shower Saturday, her baby

I think it went fairly well though, my mom came with my sister Maria and her two dd,one just had a baby, and the other is expecting one in June too. My two other sisters Dolly and Becky with her dd and child and dil, my aunt Rosa, sil Becky and let's just say all the usual suspects! I think my dd Chencha had a very nice time, she recieved so many beautiful things!

This is Mandy finally getting some of her favorite Bellini drink.

Family and friends

More family and friends

I have to say that my dd Chencha has some of the most wonderful inlaws ever! Her sweet mil Brenda Beeler is such a blessing, I know my daughter and grandchild will be in good loving hands with the extended family that the good lord has chosen for her. This is her mil, Brenda with Chencha

One more of my lovely girls

My kind of cake

This is my youngest dd Alexandra ( Allie )and her fiance Rhinehart.Don't they look so sweet? Hard to believe she is old enough to be out on her own let alone be engaged. Everytime I see her I see the barely 3 yr old that she was, with a scrunched up face asking me " You pindished mom?" when translated means "are you finished mom?" in reference to taking my plate to the dishwasher. She knew what she was saying even if I didn't always understand.
She is a very talented young lady with a strong desire to be a pastry chef. She loves to try different things and most are very tasty!
She made me a cake for mother's day, not just any kind of cake mind you! Her's was a very special ooak cake. Take a look

Can you guess what it is? It's a BoneHeadStudios kinda cake!!!! She worked so hard on it, all day long, at a friends house. The green is a big witch nose and the black dot on top is a wart! The hat is made of fondant, her eyes are down near the hat brim, on each side, it was so moist and very tasty, I almost couldn't bring myself to cut into it.
She was so very proud and all I kept seeing was my sweet little 3 yr old with the scrunched up face looking at me as she asked "Do you like it mom?" It was the best cake ever.
Here are more pic's of it as she constructed it.

Now that's my kinda cake ...look out world, here comes Allie !!!!!

Mama Said

Mama Said

Mama said " Come home Nellie "
Nellie said " Why?"
Mama said " Come home Nellie!"
Nellie said " I will,by and by."
Mama said " Come home Nellie my stubborn little one!
The day is almost gone and your chores aren't done!"
Nellie said " Ok Mama...Here I come."
Mama said "That's my sweet sugar bun."
by Flora Thompson

Sweet little Nellie would love nothing better than to play all day in the woods, but there are chores to be done, and never enough time to do what needs to be done, let alone do what we want! Which in her case is nothing, she kinda reminds me of someone? hmmmmmm? This raggamuffin is gonna take her turn on The Humble Arts we are having our new uploads this weekend. And if you want to get, while the getting is good, you better make sure that you are there!!! I'm a lot like Nellie and I've let time get away from me, lets hope I'm not too late.
Blessings,Flora
